To celebrate the beginning of Hanukkah, we started the week with a ‘hybrid’ (part live, part Zoom) school assembly on the festival of Hanukkah this past Monday morning.

We were joined by Doris Levinson from the Sussex Jewish Representative Council,  who demonstrated some Hanukkah customs for us and shed some light onto the history of the festival and its significance. The morning was rounded off by the lighting of the Hanukkah menorah, a recitation of the blessings and singing of the traditional song, ‘Ma’oz Tsur’.

As an extra celebration we had a special lunch menu where we enjoyed some roast chicken, latkes and challah as part of our Hanukkah celebrations.
