GDST schools have a proud history of providing financial assistance towards school fees, ensuring that girls from all backgrounds have been able to access a GDST education.
Our bursary awards provide incredible opportunities to those from less advantaged backgrounds, and the benefit extends to their families, wider communities and the future networks they will create.
Our facilities, which in some cases are funded by donations, help us to provide an outstanding education to our pupils, and are crucial to our outreach projects and partnership programmes.

How to pledge a gift in your Will
We always recommend that you seek the advice of a solicitor before drafting a new Will or changing an existing Will.

You can leave a residuary (share of estate), pecuniary (set sum), or a particular item (stocks and shares or items of value).
You only need to include in your Will our charity name (Girls’ Day School Trust), registered charity number (306983) and mention if you would like your gift to benefit Brighton Girls.

Minerva Society
The school endeavours to show its appreciation towards those who pledge a legacy by offering membership of the Minerva Society. This meets annually and is hosted by the Head. It is an excellent way to meet up with contemporaries and other alumnae who wish to support the school in this way.
Your legacy gift will also be acknowledged through the GDST stewardship programme, which includes invitations to social events such as the GDST Annual Reception, as well as membership of the wider Minerva Circle. The Minerva Circle brings together legacy donors from across all 25 GDST schools.
How would my gift be used?
Gifts may be directed towards specific areas or left without limitations to be allocated wherever the need at Brighton Girls is deemed greatest. Whichever it is, by leaving a gift in your Will to Brighton Girls you will be creating incredible opportunities for the young women of tomorrow. Your generosity could give a girl a life-changing opportunity.
Our first priority is providing bursaries for gifted students regardless of their family’s financial position, but your wishes as a donor are of primary importance to the school. We would be happy to talk to you about areas of particular interest that you may like to support.
Why are bursaries important?
Since its inception 150 years ago, the GDST has educated able girls, regardless of their background and focuses on providing an outstanding and rounded educational experience. Legacy gifts have been integral to the continuation of the organisation’s founding intentions, by providing numerous opportunities to girls from diverse backgrounds.
As a GDST school, Brighton Girls represents the very best in teaching and pastoral care. We foster academic excellence but also build character, helping girls to be confident, resilient and fearless. Our goal is to make a Brighton Girls education available to the best and brightest girls, whatever their background.
