For many, the ability to make donations in their lifetime is limited. Leaving a gift in a Will can provide a more suitable opportunity to make a significant contribution. Whatever the amount and wherever it goes, you can be sure that your generosity will make a real difference to the school and, in the case of bursaries, will be life transforming.
Remembering Brighton Girls Day School Trust in your Will is one of the most personal and significant ways you can help our schools and support the future of the GDST and generations of talented girls and young women.
What is a legacy?
Legacy gifts often take the form of a specific sum of money or a percentage of a person’s estate. All legacy gifts, whatever type or size, play a vital role in our work and can have a transformative impact.
We are hugely indebted to those who have recognised the importance of providing for the long-term financial support of Brighton Girls GDST in this way.
How to pledge a gift in your Will
We always recommend that you seek the advice of a solicitor before drafting a new Will or changing an existing Will.
For your convenience, you can inform us of your intentions or make an enquiry by submitting a legacy reply form below.
We have an online legacy pledge form available below or, if you would prefer, we have a paper version of our legacy pledge form.
If you are considering leaving a gift in your Will and would like to talk this through, please contact Rebecca Findlay, Head of Community, r.findlay@brightongirls.gdst.net
You can leave a residuary (share of estate), pecuniary (set sum), or a particular item (stocks and shares or items of value).
You only need to include in your Will our charity name (Girls’ Day School Trust), registered charity number (306983) and mention if you would like your gift to benefit Brighton Girls.
Please help us to support more gifted girls from all walks of life with a legacy today.
Will-writing service
GDST alumnae and friends can benefit from a free will-writing service via leading provider, Farewill – to take advantage of this opportunity, please get in touch.
For general independent advice about leaving a gift in your Will to charity, you can visit the Remember A Charity website.
Minerva Society
The school endeavours to show its appreciation towards those who pledge a legacy by offering membership of the Minerva Society. This meets annually and is hosted by the Head. It is an excellent way to meet up with contemporaries and other alumnae who wish to support the school in this way.
Your legacy gift will also be acknowledged through the GDST stewardship programme, which includes invitations to social events such as the GDST Annual Reception, as well as membership of the wider Minerva Circle. The Minerva Circle brings together legacy donors from across all 25 GDST schools.
