Every year, between the end of the summer term and November, Brighton Girls runs the Temple Project Qualification (or TPQ) for Year 7 onwards. This is a voluntary part of our enrichment programme, aiming to encourage girls to pursue their own interests, to develop their intellectual curiosity and to push themselves to organise and complete their own projects, with the guidance of teacher-supervisors.

The TPQ is designed to provide an excellent grounding for the nationally recognised Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) which is taken in the Sixth Form. The EPQ is a qualification which universities recommend and which is increasingly being requested along with high A-level grades. TPQ, like EPQ, requires pupils to complete both a project and a production log; it is not just the destination that matters, but the route taken as well. Indeed, many of the best projects are the ones where the candidate can show that she has confronted, analysed and solved problems along the way.

This is a serious qualification which is designed to celebrate and enable the twin powerhouses of our most able students: passion and effort. Its organisation allows student and teacher-supervisor to work together in a way which will foster independent learning and thus take a step towards A-level and even university.

This presentation will give you an overview, and additional resources will be added to this page.
