The is an extensive Performing Arts programme at Brighton Girls both in the classroom and beyond as part of our enrichment programme. From the annual iconic dance show to yearly drama productions, there is something for everyone to get involved with.
Dance is one of the most vibrant and sought-after parts of school life – an energetic community where creativity thrives and students of all levels are inspired to move, connect and express. Our dancers experience a dynamic range of styles, including contemporary, hip hop, commercial and ballet, helping them to develop versatility and confidence across multiple disciplines.
Throughout the year, students can nurture their artistry and technical ability in our weekly dance clubs. These sessions offer a welcoming space to refine skills, explore new movement ideas and build strong foundations alongside like-minded peers.
For those who show exceptional talent, commitment and a true love for movement, Brighton Girls Dance Academy provides an elevated space for dancers to embed and extend their skills as performers. Here, dancers will learn challenging repertory and discover opportunities to cultivate their creative voices.
A highlight of the school calendar is our iconic annual dance show, Momentum, held at The Old Market theatre in Hove. This spectacular event showcases original works and a rich variety of styles, giving dancers the unforgettable opportunity to perform on a professional stage. Across the school, every dancer is encouraged to embrace their unique style and unlock their potential as bold performers and compelling creators.
Art is a popular subject at Brighton Girls encompassing digital media, textiles, photography and more traditional mediums. Beyond the curriculum, there are a number of clubs to immerse yourself in.
Through our Inspire Artist Programme, students can also connect with outstanding local artists. There is a termly programme of events: lectures, workshops and courses which draw on the city’s creative energy to enrich our educational offering.
Individual music tuition is organised on a rotating timetable up to Year 9 and then at a regular, fixed time in Years 10 to 13.
There are clubs for singing and instrumental and opportunities to perform and to go on trips.
Every year there is a drama production alternating between a musical and a play. It is chance for everyone across the school to take part whether taking a leading roll or helping backstage on set design or audio visual management.
Brighton Girls also run as annual theatre trip where the entire school visit a London theatre on the same day. The school also takes part in the Shakespeare festival programme for schools.
