In a world filled with negativity, war and brutal actions, it is hard to find the beauty in everyday life. Whether your days are filled with gloom and helplessness or an abundance of glee there is always something to celebrate.
Calling a relative/ loved one
No matter how long, a call with a relative or loved one is sure to brighten your day. If you are not in constant contact with a loved one you may not know of the silent battles that they are facing. Letting someone know that they are loved and thought about may be just what they need to get through the day.
Accomplishments of the week
At the end of each week try to gather your achievements, even if you feel as if you have done nothing there is always something to be proud of. Whether it’s getting a good mark on a test, getting through a tough class, having a productive evening or simply spending quality time with friends or family. Gathering your achievements is proven to reduce stress and increase confidence, which will enable you to become your best self. You can keep track of this by writing it down in a journal or just taking a moment to reflect.
Taking care of yourself/space
With all the things to think about in the complex and confusing modern world, sometimes you can forget to be grateful for all the things you have. Taking those extra couple of minutes every day to take care of yourself and the environment can help your energy to soar. If you don’t take care of yourself and ‘let yourself go,’ it wouldn’t be surprising if other things around you start to crumble too. Go through your room and think about the significance of every item you have; if an item holds no value, get rid of it. At the end of this exercise you will feel appreciative for all you have and free from any clutter holding you down.
Admire urban beauty
While commuting to school or strolling around town, you should always look at your environment favourably. Even if you don’t think highly of the space around you, look hard enough at the details on buildings, the life flowing through the streets, the signs of new growth in nature, the colours of the sky, and everything we take for granted in everyday life. Taking a moment to appreciate the world around you will make you feel more confident and safer, boosting your mood.
