The GCSE results are in and they are superb: 20% of all grades were grade 9; 46% 9/8 and 69% were awarded 9-7.

Head Rosie McColl comments, “I am delighted by these GCSE results – they reflect the academic brilliance of this talented year group and are a just reward for hard work, high standards, and excellent preparation.

Our GCSE candidates have triumphed. They were not immune to nerves and jitters as we approached the exam season – perhaps because they had witnessed the disruption caused by COVID in the two preceding years, or perhaps because they had been denied the usual pattern of yearly exams during the pandemic. We are very proud of everything they have achieved, both in and out of the classroom. As ever, in addition to these superb results, our students have used their talents to enrich our community.

Among those receiving their GCSE results today are students who took lead roles in the school production of ‘Bugsy Malone’; students who turned up to help at the water station and Mini-Mile events during Brighton Marathon Weekend; individuals who have represented the county in swimming and cricket; adventurers who have signed up for next year’s World Challenge trip to Nepal; and those who have led their houses in fundraising activities throughout the year, contributing to nearly £10,000 being raised for local charities.

Among those celebrating their results today, the following achieved a clean sweep of straight 9/8 grades: Isabella Hawkins Curley (9 grade 9 and an 8 in Further Maths); Freya Michael (6 grade 9 and 3 grade 8); Olivia Duddy (8 grade 9 and 1 grade 8 and one grade 7); Summer Baldwin (4 grade 9 and 5 grade 8);  Kaia Pattenden (5 grade 9 and 5 grade 8); and Emile Sloan (2 grade 9 and 7 grade 8).

Well done to all our GCSE candidates.
