Brighton Girls is the first school to partner with @beonhand, an innovative volunteering app which pairs those in need with those who want to help.

onHand allows us to support our local community with activities such as food shopping for vulnerable people, befriending phone calls, dog walking, gardening and lots more. The projects in the app shed light on needs that exist, often hidden, in our community.

By accepting missions to help locally we are increasing our social impact. Making eco pledges that reduce our carbon footprint or helping with environmental clean-ups all help support environment. A by-product is that we also boost our own wellbeing.

For every ten missions a tree is planted in our Brighton Girls’ forest, and we planted 216 trees in our first few weeks of volunteering!  In addition, charities to benefit in a small way during our first few weeks of activity have been The Salvation Army, RSPB, British Heart Foundation and Surfers Against Sewage.

We’re encouraging our school community to download the app and be on hand for social good @beonhand.
