An exciting day, and a momentous sporting occasion, as Brighton Girls finished an highly impressive second in the competition.

Our first game was against Norwich High School, where we lost the toss and were put into bat. Struggling a little to adjust to the conditions we got out and ended with a score of 207 (each team starts with 200). Norwich went on to bat very well and amassed 221 runs for victory. On our side Isabella was Player of the Match.

Next we played Bromley High where we again batted first and this time scored an impressive 217 – before fielding well to restrict Bromley to 214 for a narrow win. Isabella was once again named Player of the Match.

Our third game was against Croydon High and here we were superb in both batting and fielding as we scored 221 to Croydon’s 201. This time Lauren was named Player of the Match.

Our fourth game was against South Hampstead High and again we played very well to win 220 to 215. Charlie was named Player of the Match.

This left us second in our group and facing the winner of one of the other groups, Oxford High. A tight game ensued with some superb play from both sides which we won, in a nail biting finish, 229 to 227. Lauren was again named Player of the Match.

Now a semi-final against Croydon awaited us. We played a great game, fielding first and restricting them to 218. We went into bat knowing we could do it but didn’t bank on it being quite so tight. We scored the winning run with the very last ball of the game to win with 219 runs. Bobbi was named Player of the Match.

The final now loomed against Norwich High once more. We fielded first but they were a force to be reckoned, scoring a huge total of 247. Sadly couldn’t get near this despite working well in the batting partnerships and finished with 222.

All in all, a fantastic performance by the girls and an amazing end to a wonderful year for them. Well done Bobbi, Caitlin, Charlie, Emily, Emma, Gracie, Imogen, Isabella, Lauren and Tilly.
