This year Sixth Formers at Brighton & Hove High School GDST celebrated outstanding A Level results, with over two- thirds of grades being awarded at A*/B.

Head, Jennifer Smith, said: “We have been delighted with the girls’ hard work and commitment and all the staff and governors at Brighton and Hove are very proud of our Sixth Form where girls have excelled in a broad range of subjects and from where they have secured Higher Education places ranging from Economics at King’s and Medicine at Nottingham to Dance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. Earlier this year, Rebecca Linford was awarded the Johnson Memorial Scholarship by the Girls’ Day School Trust to support her studies in Law and she has now achieved a place to do so at Oxford.  Given the current gap in the UK between supply and demand for people with engineering skills (compounded by insufficient numbers of young people, especially girls, choosing a career in engineering) I am especially pleased by our very strong achievements in STEM subjects: almost half of our students took A Level Mathematics this year, all of them achieving A or A* grades. Particular congratulations go to our Arkwright Scholar, Alanah O’Rourke, who secured her place to study Aerospace Engineering at Bristol and to our GDST HSBC Scholar, Atalanta Hinds, who will study Mechanical Engineering at Sheffield. We wish all our students every success for the future.”
