Year 1 visited the beach again last week for Wild Beach School despite very chilly temperatures!

We have been looking at different aspects of the weather and this time we focussed on wind. The girls talked about the differences in wind speed from when they left school to what they found at the coast. They were then given a piece of paper and some string to make kites – some successful and others not so, but this was okay!

We had a brilliant kite workshop back at school in the afternoon where we thought about structure, shape and materials that we could use. The girls absolutely loved their day and cannot wait to get out to test their kites again this week. We were also very fortunate to have a visit from Charlie – one of our local seafront officers. He talked to the girls about sea safety, conservation and all of the day to day jobs he gets up to – a big thank you to you Charlie.
