As part of our 140th Anniversary celebrations the girls at the junior school experienced a typical school day in 1876.

The girls made the most of the opportunity to dress up and get into the spirit of the occasion, which was appropriately traditional with stew potatoes and greens followed by a treat of trifle – no gruel but definitely no salad either! While there was obviously no corporal punishment staff were “in role” for the day, offering maths lessons in “old money” pre-decimalisation, rote learning and physical training. While some things went down well, most of the girls certainly realised how fortunate they are to be at school in 2016!
