On 20th March several pupils from Brighton and Hove High School took part in a Hockey Tournament, organised by Sussex Hockey. The tournament was attended by hockey clubs from around Sussex and there were teams from Eastbourne, Lewes, Horsham, Burgess Hill, East Grinstead and Brighton. In total, 20 teams took part in the tournament which was split into 2 pools; with the top two teams in each pool, going into the semi-finals.

Pupils from Brighton and Hove High Juniors played within the ‘Red’  and ‘Blue’ teams entered by Brighton & Hove Hockey Club. Isla, Isabella P, Lily and Amelia K in Year 5 played for the Brighton ‘Red’ team and have played together for 2 seasons. Elise, Atlanta and Rosie in Year 4 from Brighton and Hove High played in the Brighton ‘Blue’ Team.  

Brighton ‘Red’ Team did not concede any goals throughout the preliminary games, winning all matches in their pool. Their final game saw them to penalty shoot-outs, with Lily in goal for the Brighton Red team, conceding only one goal against East Grinstead. Amelia took the final penalty shot for Brighton and scored, taking the girls to victory with Brighton & Hove Hockey Club ‘Red’ Team winning the tournament and being crowed County Winners.  

The team now go to Teddington Hockey Club on the 1st May 2016 to play at the Regional Finals. Good luck girls!
